The Lincoln MKT

The Lincoln MKT is somewhat the forgotten child in the rapidly changing Lincoln lineup – thanks in large part to its polarising design. Aesthetically, shares some sensibilities with a station wagon. If you like station wagons you’ll probably admire it. And if you don’t like station wagons, you should consider the new Lincoln Navigator. The MKT certainly cuts a unique figure. And, in an automotive world of anaesthetising sameness, that is worth something. It would definitely be shame if you didn’t consider the full-sized crossover beyond its looks because it has quite a few strengths.

Why Buy a Lincoln MKT?

First of all, the new Lincoln MKT is remarkably comfortable and spacious. Lincoln has left veritable acres of head and legroom in all three rows, and it’s thoroughly comfortable even for the passengers you consign to the back. The seats use Bridge of Weir Leather, which is one of the softest seating materials in the automotive industry.

And the MKT is pretty flexible, too. The third row folds down seamlessly to create 1121 litres of cargo space. It’s not like most MKT drivers will be hauling around old furniture, but having the capability in your back pocket gives a little extra peace of mind for when you’re not ferrying your friend to the symphony. Further, the wealth of cargo space pairs well with the new MKT’s excellent driving performance.

First-class performance starts with the standard 3.5L Twin-Turbocharged V6 Engine. It delivers 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. You’ll struggle to tax that powerplant even when passing on the highway.

Plus, you always have the benefit of standard Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. That advanced feature uses sensors to monitor the grip of each wheel constantly and delivers torque to the wheels with the most grip. Before you even realise that you’ve begun to slip on wet or icy pavement, your MKT has compensated and restored its grip. Intelligent AWD is just a small part of the crossover’s assured, smooth driving dynamics.

Technology and Convenience

Being a Lincoln, the MKT’s wealth of comfort and refinement features is complemented by the very best in technology and convenience. Of course, the SYNC 3 infotainment system is standard. When it comes to playing music, navigating, and communicating with your phone’s contacts, SYNC 3 is one of the best systems on the market. And whatever media you are playing through your connected smartphone will sound great thanks to the standard THX II Certified Audio System. But it’s not just about entertainment.

The Lincoln MKT also comes with the latest safety technology. Standard Blind Spot Information System You can unlock even greater safety by choosing some of the available options. Meanwhile, the available Adaptive Cruise Control reduces your speed to remain a safe distance behind forward traffic. When the traffic clears, your speed automatically returns to your present cruising speed. Plus, with Collision Warning with Brake Support, you can mitigate or even avoid a crash when the unexpected happens.
